Thread: CoD:Black Ops Server?

Hey, how is everyone? (Or anyone besides myself who still checks these forums lol)

I was MIA for about 3 months cause of work and real life but recently I've been back and I've been gaming hard. I picked up the new COD:Black Ops game and it's pretty fucking solid.

I've spent...about 25% of my time during the week playing that game, when you think about that, it's a damn lot. You spend about 40% of your time during the week sleeping. Most people spend 50% working, and the other 10% after hours from work.

I've been putting in like 5 hours+ a day on that game, and I've been networking.

With the growing popularity of this game, I believe it may be just what we need to get this community back to it's feet. I tried the CSS thing, but only ever found competitive players... And that didn't last.

Populating a COD server in Black Ops is fairly easy considering it's a brand new game.

If we could pick up a server I'm 80% confident that we would be successful in picking up new gaming and community members.

With a bit of help from everyone else, I'm almost 90% positive it would work.

Any thoughts on this you guys?

You would have to get the server from gameservers.com but, I personally dont have the game though it may be interesting.

I have the game, And i love it. Just like you i play about 5+ hours a day. Just like CSS i am down brotato.

Well, I didn't give it much time but when I found out servers only cost 15$ I picked one up. After only being online for 37 minutes it was full. Stayed full for about 5 hours until just now when GameServers restarted the box or did some kind of maintenance. I went back in, spent 11 minutes alone and poof. It was full again.

Tremendously easy to fill up. Plenty of people showing signs of interest in joining as well. We have 3 regulars already

They came back time after time, the FAIL guy came and hung out in vent.

And this was at like, 2 am on a weekday. Hopefully tomorrow during the busy hours it's even better.

Awesome, this is certainly a way to put some Life back into the community. I'd be down to helping this server build up popularity and then possibly getting a second server that's a little closer to me so I can play as well lol possibly in Chicago or Ny. $15 is definitely cheap.

Well it is good to see it full all the time, Id join if my pc was powerful enough to play the game. I think i may still try and run it on this pc and see what happens. We will see.

I have to lower my graphics to low in order to play at decent frames

In CoD1 there used to be console commands to show your internet connection status and fps etc. I know that BO has a console but does it have that same capability? If so, what are the commands for it?

On the same note: is there a way to add binds for "say" and "name" though console in BO?

Type that in console it should pop up on the top right of your screen.
