Thread: Proposed Code of Conduct

ALL members, and that means EVERYONE must follow these rules!

-Golden Rule
Respect other members in the gaming community. No exceptions.

-Cheating
Cheats will not be tolerated nor exploiting known bugs or glitches to your own personal advantage while wearing the Compulsive name/tag.

-Compliance
Obey orders that have been issued by Superiors. Some members have a higher 'rank' than other members…respect their requests.

-Active
All members are expected to be active members of the community, this does not just mean hanging out in vent. Members are expected to make use of the forums, read and reply to some threads, make a few of your own. Not just SPAM either, try get involved within the community, doing so will increase your chances of getting Admin (if you desire to have it) and it will help us grow. Join our IRC channel, idle it. Idle in vent via AFK channel when your not around. We have many resources, so please don't let them goto waste. Invite your friends too!

-Ventrilo
While on team speak, be mature and think before you say things. DO NOT LOSE SELF CONTROL! Try not to be annoying! Ventrilo is a tool for communication when playing, especially in certain channels, so don’t yapp too much about random crap or something unimportant! If you have a problem…go through the proper channels to resolve it.

-Tags
You are expected to wear our name/tags at all times. When you put your tag on…you submit and agree to the rules and policies of Compulsive Gaming.

-Age
All of our members must be 16 years of age or older, and must be mature.... willing to endure a 1 week trial entry phase. We have strict age requirements because of our language at times, information in forums not suitable for younger audiences, and the requirement for mature personalities. Underage players can only join with Community Admins Intervention. Members who lie about their age during the joining process will be immediately removed from the community. NO EXCEPTIONS! Don’t Lie!

-Joining Compulsive-Gaming
Make an Introduction Post, then read and agree to these rules. After that, hang out in vent and get to know everyone, we'll always welcome new comers.

-Inactive Members
All in-active members of the community will be given a 5 week probationary period, at which time if they are still not active they will be removed from our member list, and any admin/special privileges they may have obtained will be withdrawn. If you decide you want to come back you'll have to speak with either Deano or Noir.

-Disciplinary Probation
Command reserves the right to expel any member at any given time for extreme acts of insubordination or unwillingness to resolve issues. WE DO NOT TOLERATE DISRESPECT FOR LEADERS AND/OR ITS MEMBERS!

-In Game Ethics
All members are required to set a good example when you play. If you are new to the community then you will be corrected as you go. The higher your community status, the more fierce the repercussions will be for acting inappropriately. Play smart, play fair, and play to have fun. Just be mature and Ethics wont be an issue.

-Former Member Policy
Players who permanently leave the community may rejoin on a case-by-case basis. They will be required to start over from scratch.

-Grand fathering
Compulsive Gaming is always improving and growing. As a standard policy…if we create new rules that would affect a member that already carries the cG name then this member will simply be grand fathered into the new policy. What this means, for example, is if our age limit is increased then a player who is already a full member but is below that age…he will not be held accountable to the new policy/rule. This keeps our members safe from a new policy that could be used to banish or exile members who have already qualified within the window of time that they joined. We are very serious about taking care of our members who have already qualified by past standards.

-Awareness
ALL MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO READ OUR CODE OF CONDUCT PRIOR TO ADMITTANCE INTO THE COMMUNITY ( And you better actually read it, because we'll quiz you about it after. )

Very nice saved me a lot of time, I had that on my list of things to redo
we had old ones that fresh had made up but they aren't very up to date. I also have a Write up of our old Promotion of ranks in one of the other admin chats in this thread but needed to be updated severely So thankyou for this and I'll be making a custom Page with a link on the homepage for this with links to the intro forum and registration forms.

Nice work man. But can make the new comers to play in the server or use the forum more often befor they wear the tag. I dont like the idea how easy it is to get into compulsive. Make them work for the tag so they are more dedicated in joining.

that's a good suggestion karl was thinking of making a recruit tag any thoguhts on that? [cG-R]? something else maybe and then Senior Admins get Name is #CoMpulsive and then [cG-A] for regular Admins? thinking of this makes me think we need a more advanced tag to show Levels of membership. Once recruits make membership by either posting like 10 times in the forums or playing on the server for whatever amount of time they can remove the -R and become [cG] - Name

How would we verify age? There is absolutely no way to do so. Did you guys know that I'm actually 28, and a pedophile? X'D jk I love penis--I mean vagina VAGINA.

How long is the statue of limitations for inactive members? Not everyone will be able to comply with this, I know for myself I work part time ATM and go to school full time until April--needless to say paying bills is hard. I had always followed the creed, "Once a Compulsive member, always a compulsive member....We're like herpes, we'll never go away". I understand quenching the administrative privileges, I ALSO AGREE WITH ABUSE ~ ±TERMINATION, we need to reconsider member removal.

Didn't know the "grandfather clause" not also pertained to business but to gaming sites. I work at this business that is going bankrupt and because of the grandfather clause, the owner can trash the fuck outta the place and leave and not worry about fees LOL!

The only thing i think is that the rules somewhat seem slightly harsh worded while necessarily not a bad thing i think it is allot further then what we have now.

Well Gig, you may be hella busy, but you are still active. Within the last 5 weeks you've played Rainbow six with some of us, your in vent, you chit chat when you can - thats acceptable.

I mean in-active like Fresh, Haywire, etc, people who didn't post about leaving and just did.

It helps us know who is ACTUALLY around, which numbers to include for our statistics in recruiting and growth etc etc.


Deano, about the tag. I think because you want to keep this from becomming too "clanish" that we should only have 2 tags.

If anyone has an issue and isn't sure who is in charge, they can easily find out by looking in vent under the chain of command channels, or they can view the forums once you put up those sections you were talking about. If you get into having too many tags then it looks stupid in game and un-organized. (And the fewer people who are bad with computers screw up the tags / don't understand them)

So keeping it simple would be best. But thatsjust my opinion.

Yah you may be right as it is sometimes we had problems with ppl adding the tag we had as they would miss stuff in it. I like the tag we have now maybe adding a simple recruit on the end of there name so it would be like blank is #CoMpulsive Recruit though that may be a little much or blank is #CoMpulsive -R just suggestions
